The Acura legend was brought to market October 1986, which was to be Acura’s first luxury model.  It was the first Honda/Acura produced vehicle to be produced with a v6 engine. Acura Legend won Car and Driver’s Top Ten, three years in a row, and therefore was Motor Trends Import Car of The Year in 1987. It was produced for two generations.

The First Generation was produced in 1986 to 1990.
C25A 2.5l SOHC V6 produced 151 hp when they were first produced in 1987. Therefore, in 1988 Acura put a C27A 2.7l SOHC V6 which produced 161 hp. The Acura Legend was the result of a joint venture. Honda Motor Company and Austin Rover Group, who wanted to build a vehicle of luxury, dominance, and power.

The Second Generation Acura Legend was produced 1991 to 1995, and came with a C23A 2.3l SOHC V6 producing 200 hp and came equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission or a 4 speed automatic transmission. Also rolling off the assembly line with the first ever driver and passenger airbags, speed sensitive steering, hands free, climate control, and heated leather seats and mirrors. The 1991 to 1992 Legend models came in “base”, “L”, and “LS” trim packages. The L and LS were more luxury equipped vehicles because the base model was basic design.
